Fellow Penn-York Members,

I hope that you have had a good holiday season and join us in looking optimistically forward to the coming year.

While most facets of the hardwood industry have suffered the past eighteen months, your Penn-York Club has continued working for your benefit and remains both financially and member strong.

I am proud to remind you that because of our club's reserved assets and an all volunteer board, the Club is able to reinvest over ninety percent of your dues towards industry educational, promotional, and political action groups.

Since 1994, The Penn-York Lumbermen's club has donated nearly half a million dollars to the Hardwood Forest Foundation, HMA, and AHMI promotion accounts, as well as  the PA Wood mobile, Penn-State University, The Empire State Forestry Assn., and The Pennsylvania Forest Products Assn, (formerly HLMA) all of which benefit you directly or indirectly.

We continue to offer scholarships to the NHLA Inspection School, and are participating this year in the Richard Lauchle Scholarship Fund--for forest management education.  The Penn-York Club also supports financially, and participates actively in the Hardwood Federation--the industry's voice in Washington D.C. More information on all of the groups and funds we support are available at our website, pennyork.org.

I wish to thank in advance all of our meeting sponsors for the coming year.  We again have eleven meetings scheduled monthly January through November, offering recreational opportunities, informative speakers, and plenty of fellowship and networking.

Wagner Lumber will host the next meeting January 18th, at the new Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen, NY. You will be receiving more information on that meeting in a separate mailing soon.

On behalf of Vice President Tom Johel and Secretary Trevor Vaughan, best wishes for the coming year, and thanks for your continued support of our club.  Please promptly authorize payment of the enclosed "dues" invoice, and don't hesitate to contact any of us with any questions or concerns.

Jay Reese
