President's Message

January 6, 2023

Dear Penn-York Lumbermen’s Club Members,

The year 2022 proved to be a challenging year for our industry as it certainly had its ups and downs. We came into the year with arguably the best market our industry has seen followed by what felt like 2008 all over again. Overall, I trust we enjoyed a profitable year, as the Penn York Club certainly had a great year.

We managed to get our membership to an all-time high, we held five (5) beneficial meetings and gave back to all segments of the hardwood industry.

Penn-York is a social club that gives much to the industry. The purpose of the club is to promote social relationships among its members, common business interests of the industry, efficient manufacturing methods, supported legislation on key issues, and free and open exchange of ideas.

I am pleased to announce that in 2022 we made the following positive strides:
We financed a scholarship to a candidate attending NHLA grading school.
We refunded 100% of our dues to promote our great industry.
We donated to the Hardwood Federation, Empire State Forest Products, Pennsylvania Forest Products, Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers, Wood Mobile, North American Forest Foundation, ALIFT, and the Real American Hardwood Promotion.

We feel that these organizations are essential to our industry and we are so thankful to have them!

The Penn-York Board of Directors is made up of a group of industry leaders serving in volunteer positions. I would like to thank all of those serving comprised of Randy Flament, Greg Fitzpatrick, Trevor Vaughan, Jack Monnoyer, Jordan McIlvain & a special thank you to Vice President Greg Ochs & Treasurer Rob Matson.

In closing, a look forward to what we expect to be a very strong 2023. We will be holding six (6) meetings in 2023. The first meeting will be on January 23rd in Watkins Glen, NY and hosted by Wagner Lumber.

Please visit our Meeting Dates page for a list of 2023 meetings at www.PennYork.org/meeting.

On behalf of the entire Board, we thank you for your continued support and we wish all of you a successful 2023!

Sincerely,
Jesse W. LaSon
